Superman (1978) -- Lessons From Movies

Superman
Superman: The Movie  (1978)

1.) Just as Jor-El sent Kal-El from the planet Krypton to the planet Earth, so too God the Father sent His Only Son to save us from sin and death.

2.) Just as Jonathan and Martha Kent raised the young Clark Kent, so too Joseph and Mary raised the Boy Jesus.  Jonathan dies, just like Joseph before Jesus began His public ministry.

3.) Virtues: tells the truth; protects the innocent; fights evil; promotes justice, patriotism.

4.) Even superheroes have weaknesses and need others to help them overcome their weaknesses.

5.) Superman's Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic is like Jesus taking time away from the world to contemplate His Father.

6.) Superhero's love for Lois represents Christ giving His life for us, His Mystical Body, the Church.
