Attended VPD Routine Admin Training on Sat. Morning

I greeted the sergeant in charge of the chaplains and other volunteers today.  He had a warm smile on his face.

At my last two homilies/sermons in December (Dec. 7 & Dec. 21), I promoted two police chaplain stories, included a note to recognize two separate law enforcement officers (that help light the Advent Candle at Mass) as public servants at two separate Masses, and I got the word out about the Citizens Academy by the Vallejo Police Dept. and the Solano County Sheriff's Office.

A few months ago, the Diocesan Deacon Board encouraged me to let people know what I do as a Police Chaplain in my homilies/sermons.  After almost 5 years of not mentioning anything in my homilies/sermons of serving as a Police Chaplain which is part of my deacon ministry, I've been encouraged to do so.

Last month, over 1,000 people heard these messages throughout December and what the local agencies were doing to serve the people.  Someone told me that the law enforcement officers that heard me preach about this were encouraged.

These are some of the things that I can remember.
